Samford standout joins the staff of head coach Jennifer Roos
Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Jennifer Roos has announced the hiring of Emily London as assistant coach. London will begin her duties at BGSU on Monday (July 2).
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Bowling Green community and its women's basketball program,” said London. “It's a privilege to be a part of this staff, and I'm looking forward to learning from and growing with each member of the staff. I'm so grateful for this position, and I look forward to another successful season both on and off the court.”
For Roos, the hiring of London completes her staff, which also includes assistant coaches Jesse Fleming and Ali Mann and director of operations Monique Rosati.
London comes to BGSU after spending the past five years at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. In May of 2012, she was named game operations and event manager in the SU athletics department, after working as special projects coordinator for the 2011-12 academic year. During the past year, London coordinated fundraisers for Samford's 13 Olympic sports programs, and had game operations duties for numerous sports including football and men's and women's basketball. She also was the color commentator for SU's home women's basketball games.
London was a member of the women's basketball team during her previous four years at Samford, and rewrote the program's record book during that time. She finished her career in 2011 as the school's all-time scoring leader with 1,760 career points, and also set program career records for three-pointers (276) and free throws made (382) and games started (113). London also finished her career ranked second in Samford history in steals (162), third in field goals made (551) and fifth in both assists (304) and games played (122).
In each of her last three seasons, London ranked among the top-10 shooters in the country in both free-throw percentage and three-point field-goal percentage.

She is a natural leader and a winner. Not only was she a high school state champion, but she led her alma mater to a conference championship and to the NCAA Tournament. Emily's drive to be successful and passion for the game mirrors the philosophy that we embrace as coaches and as a community at Bowling Green.”
The Bulldogs won at least 20 games in each of London's four seasons on the roster, including a school-record 25 victories in her senior year of 2010-11. In that '10-11 season, London was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year as Samford won the first SoCon championship and earned the first NCAA Championships berth in program history.
In that 2010-11 campaign, London averaged 16.2 points per game, setting school records for total points (535), three-pointers (84) and free throws (117) in a season. London shot .515 from the field, including an 84-for-174 (.483) effort from three-point range. She led the entire nation in free-throw percentage (.936) and was second in the country in three-point FG percentage.
As a junior in 2009-10, London averaged 14.9 points per contest and ranked among the nation's top-10 in both free-throw pct. (.902, fourth) and three-point pct. (.463, sixth). During her sophomore year, she averaged 13.8 ppg and was second in all of NCAA Division I in three-point rate (.464) and third in free-throw success (.902).
London was an All-SoCon Team selection during each of her final three years. During her freshman campaign of 2007-08, the Bulldogs competed in the Ohio Valley Conference. London averaged 12.2 ppg that year and led the OVC with a three-point rate of .488. She was named the OVC Freshman of the Year.
London helped the Bulldogs to national postseason bids in each of her final two seasons, with a trip to the WNIT in 2009-10 and the NCAA Tournament berth in 2010-11. Samford had an overall record of 93-35 during London's four seasons.
A native of Lexington, Ky., London earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and mass communications from Samford in 2011, with a concentration in public relations.
