Sandlin Named Coordinator Of Promotions And Fan Experience
July 26, 2012 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Athletics Department announced the hiring of Craig Sandlin as the department's first ever Coordinator of Promotions and Fan Experience. Sandlin has already begun his position at BGSU.
“I am excited to join BGSU Athletics,” Sandlin said. “I am also excited to have the opportunity to enhance what is already an exciting atmosphere at all of our home athletic events.”
Sandlin brings a vast background with him to BGSU. He most recently came from James Madison University, where he served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing since May of 2011. Sandlin played a vital role during the expansion of Bridgeforth Stadium, resulting in the program's football attendance being ranked second in the FCS. During the past year, he was the game day producer for ten of James Madison's teams, creating marketing plans and in-game public address scripts, as well as hosting Colonial Athletic Association Championship, NCAA Championship, and WNIT events.
Prior to his position at James Madison, Sandlin spent time with Ohio University as well as the Miami Heat. While at OU, he organized an advertising budget for the 2009 football season, resulting in the first sellout in five years. In addition, he assisted in the reconstruction of Men's Basketball season ticket packages, which created a record number of season tickets sold. As the Inside Sales Representative for the Miami Heat, Sandlin generated approximately $53,000 in revenue for the organization.
“We are thrilled to have Craig join our team,” Associate Athletics Director for External Relations Mary Ellen Gillespie said. “His experience at Ohio and James Madison, two institutions that have enhanced the game day experience for fans, will help us take our game atmosphere to the next level. Craig rose to the top of our candidates during a very competitive national search and his work ethic, passion for collegiate athletics, experience in building strong student teams, and ability to entertain fans make him an excellent choice for this new position.”
Before his stint with the Miami Heat, Sandlin was an intern with the Florence Freedom semi-professional baseball team, where he assisted with marketing and ticket office operations. His resume also includes a position as the Assistant to the Director of Athletics at Kings High School in 2007.
Sandlin earned his bachelors degree in sport management with a specialization in business administration from Ohio University.
