Greg Christopher Named To NCAA’s Committee On Infractions
July 09, 2012 | General
Indianapolis, Ind. – The NCAA has announced that Bowling Green State University Director of Athletics Greg Christopher has been selected to serve on the organization's Committee on Infractions. Christopher will serve a three-year term beginning Sept. 1, 2012.
The Division I Committee on Infractions explores cases of alleged NCAA rules violations, which are presented to the committee by the NCAA enforcement staff. The committee must determine the facts of alleged violations and, if warranted, impose penalties on institutions and/or individuals found to have committed one or more major violations.
Christopher has been the Director of Athletics at Bowling Green since July of 2006, overseeing the 18-sport program. In his time, the department has won 10 Mid-American Conference Championships and the football program has earned a pair of bowl bids. Outside of the field of competition, Bowling Green's student-athletes have continually set new standards for classroom success, improving the overall grade point average beyond a 3.0.
The department has also flourished in fundraising during Christopher's tenure. The Falcon Club has seen all-time highs in membership and donations, while both the Sebo Center and the Stroh Center have been built in the past six years.
In the spring of 2008, Christopher was appointed to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee and served as the chair for the 2011-12 season. Professionally, he is also a member of the CCHA executive committee, WCHA steering committee, and serves on the board of directors for College Hockey, Inc. Locally, Christopher is a member of the board of directors for the Bowling Green Community Foundation and the American Red Cross of Wood County.
