August 20, 2012 | Gymnastics
The Bowling Green State University women's gymnastics team was again recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) as eight Falcon gymnasts and the team were honored as Academic All-America in 2012.
The honor marks the second year in a row that eight Falcon gymnasts have been named to the NACGC's list, up from six in 2010.
Dawn Christman, Monica Eaton, Megan Harrington, Dana Herr, Lindsay Koch, Leah Miko, Rachel Perry and Danielle Wishart each achieved a grade-point average above 3.5, with Eaton leading the team with a 3.90 in criminal justice.
The award is the fourth consecutive Academic All-America honor for Christman, the third for Eaton and the second for Wishart, Harrington and Koch.
As a team, the Falcons ranked 37th in the nation with a team GPA of 3.282.
“The balance between academics and gymnastics is so healthy here,” said head coach Kerrie Beach. “I want strong student-athletes who want a balance between what they're doing in the gym and what they're starting to plan for their future.”
The eight individuals honored with the award, along with their majors and GPA, are listed below.
