The Bowling Green State University women's golf team completed day one of the Mary Fossum Invitational on Saturday. Through 36 holes, Shelby Wilson and Amy Ruthenberg paced the Falcons, firing identical scores of 155 (+11).
The Falcons were consistent on the day, firing two rounds of 311 (622 total) to sit in 12th place overall. The Falcons finished the day ahead of MAC foe Western Michigan,and Big Ten foe Michigan State.
Shelby Wilson got the day started right for the Orange and Brown, carding a two-over 74 in the first round. In that round, Wilson carded three birdies. After one round, Wilson stood tied for sixth.
Freshman Hannah Lewis paced the Falcons in the second round of the day, firing a 76 (+4). In that round, Lewis set a career low for score in a round. Her previous low was set last weekend at the Redbird Invitational when she shot a 78 twice.
Senior Amy Ruthenberg stands tied for the team lead through 36 holes, after totaling a 155 on day one. In the first round, Ruthenberg fired a 76, which equaled her career best, previously set last year.
Three Falcons currently sit inside the top 50 heading into the last round of action, which will begin on Sunday morning.
