A few facts and figures on the Falcons
Here are eight paragraphs -- one for each player on the roster -- on the 2012-13 Falcons...
* Freshman Katie Brozovich made her collegiate debut at the Muirfield Collegiate Invitational in Dublin, Ohio, and defeated no fewer than four different players from the University of Cincinnati in singles play. Last weekend, she teamed up with Mary Hill for three wins and a doubles flight championship at the BGSU Invitational. Brozovich ranks third on the team in overall wins, with 10 this season to date.
* Junior Nikki Chiricosta won titles in both singles and doubles last weekend, giving her two singles and two doubles crowns at the BGSU Invite in her career. Chiricosta is second on the Falcons with 11 wins this fall, and has surged past the 100-victory mark for her career. Just a junior, she now ranks 21st in school history with 109 total wins. She is tied for 20th in singles wins (56) and is deadlocked for 21st in doubles victories (53).
* Senior co-captain Maddy Eccleston missed Friday's action at the BGSU Invitational due to illness, but returned on Saturday to combine with classmate Katie Grubb for a pair of doubles victories. Eccleston, who leads all current Falcons in career wins, now is 11th all-time at BGSU with 133 total victories. She has moved into a tie for fifth in BG history with 73 doubles wins, and is 18th in singles wins, with 60.
* Freshman Drew Fillis made her collegiate debut last weekend, beginning her career by teaming with senior Jade Johnson for an 8-4 doubles win on Friday morning. Also on Friday, Fillis posted her first BGSU singles victory, winning a third-set tiebreaker over Duquesne's Alrissa Tobe. Fillis is now 3-2 in her career to date.
* Senior Katie Grubb won two singles matches to advance to the championship at the BGSU Invitational. Her loss in the final snapped her string of consecutive BGSU Invite singles wins at eight. She went 2-0 with Eccleston in doubles, for a 4-1 weekend. Grubb now has moved into the top 30 on the BGSU overall wins list, and has 89 total victories to rank 29th. She is tied for 26th in doubles wins, with 49, and has 40 singles wins to approach that career chart as well.
* Senior co-captain Mary Hill went 3-0 with Brozovich in doubles to claim a flight title last weekend. Hill went 4-1 on the weekend. In her third year at BGSU, she now ranks 27th at the school with 97 career wins. Hill is tied for 27th in singles victories (45) and ranks 23rd in doubles wins (52).
* Senior Jade Johnson moved up and played at the third singles flight last weekend. She teamed up for a 2-1 doubles mark with Fillis, and now has 46 career doubles victories, just three shy of joining that BGSU career list.
* Junior Emily Reuland is now a perfect 18-0 in BGSU Invitational matches in her career, having won three singles titles and three doubles championships at the event in her three years. Reuland has a team-best 12 wins this fall, having gone 6-1 in both singles and doubles. She surpassed the 100-win mark last weekend, and now is 26th in BG history with 101 total wins. Reuland is 22nd on the singles wins list, with 54, and, with 47 doubles victories, is two away from joining that list as well.
The Falcons are idle from competition until Oct. 12-13, when the team makes a short trip north to participate in Toledo's Rocket Invitational. Win-loss records for each BGSU player this season to date are available below...
