This weekend's tournament, hosted by the University of Indiana, also features Marquette and Missouri, along with the Falcons of coach Penny Dean.
Friday's play is scheduled to begin at noon, with the day's action scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 12-13).
The Falcons have been idle from competition for nearly two months, since the WMU Super Challenge on Nov. 9-11. Senior co-captain Mary Hill won a singles title at that tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich., going a perfect 3-0 at the sixth flight.
Two of this weekend's other three teams, Indiana and Marquette, also were in Kalamazoo for that invite. The fourth team, Missouri, begins the 2013 calendar year ranked 52nd in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. The Tigers are three spots behind 49th-ranked Indiana in the first rankings of the spring season.
Six of BGSU's eight student-athletes recorded double-digit win totals during the fall, with the other two Falcons posting nine victories apiece.
Junior Emily Reuland leads the Falcons with 20 total wins, while classmate Nikki Chiricosta has 19. Reuland had identical 10-3 records in both singles and doubles play, competing with Chiricosta in all 13 of her doubles matches.
Reuland is ranked 87th in the entire nation in the ITA singles rankings.
Chiricosta posted a 9-3 singles mark in the fall, while freshman Katie Brozovich had eight singles wins to rank third on the Falcons in that category.
As a team, BGSU had a 46-29 singles mark and a 28-12 doubles ledger during the fall.
All six of BGSU's veteran players on the 2012-13 roster already have added their names to at least one of the school's career wins lists. Senior co-captain Maddy Eccleston enters her final semester ranked third in BG history in doubles wins, with 76. Eccleston is just 13 doubles victories behind school record-holder Christine Chiricosta.
Eccleston is ranked 11th in BG annals in overall wins (138) and 18th in singles victories (62).
BG's two juniors are moving up the wins lists. Chiricosta is ranked 19th in school history in both singles (60) and doubles (57) wins, and her total of 117 victories ties her for 20th on that chart.
Reuland is right behind Chiricosta on the overall wins list, ranking 22nd with 109 total victories. Reuland is 20th in singles wins, with 58, and tied for 25th in doubles wins (51).
Hill, in just her third season with the Falcons, has 102 total wins to rank 27th. She is tied for 24th in singles wins (48) and deadlocked for 20th on the doubles chart (54).
Senior Katie Grubb has 95 overall wins, good for 28th in school history. She is tied for 23rd all-time in doubles wins, with 53. Senior Jade Johnson picked up her 50th career doubles win at the WMU Super Challenge, and is tied for 27th on the BG doubles wins list.
Following this weekend's action, BGSU will begin the dual-match schedule with another trip to the state of Indiana. The Falcons will face 19th-ranked Notre Dame on Friday, Jan. 18, before hosting Duquesne the next day (Saturday, Jan. 19). The Notre Dame match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m., with the Duquesne dual beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
