Softball To Welcome 1988 MAC Championship Team Back On Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University softball team would like to welcome back the 1988 MAC Championship team this Saturday. The team will be recognized at halftime during the BGSU football game between the Falcons and arch-rival University of Toledo, which is set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
The 1988 team finished with a 35-23-1 overall record, including a mark of 24-5 in the MAC (1st). Head coach Gail Davenport led the Falcons to their first-ever MAC softball crown to earn the program's second
The Falcons Amy Lienhardt, who was an All-American selection, set numerous records in the magical season. Lienhardt set records for hits (83), triples (10), runs (57), total bases (126), stolen bases (53) and batting average (.439) all in the year. Pitcher Vicki Miwa also had a strong season for Bowling Green, who was an All-Region selection, posted three (3) saves, and finished her career with the lowest seasonal earned run average in BGSU history with a 0.93 (min. 200 innings pitched.
The team also set a record with 28 triples.
