BOWLING GREEN, Ohio –  The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will head to Vero Beach, FL to play in the 2013 Quail Valley Intercollegiate tournament next week (Oct. 28-29), marking their final tournament of the 2013 fall season.
The Orange and Brown will join McNeese State (host), Binghamton University, Jacksonville, Louisiana-Monroe, North Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-Pan American and Valparaiso in the field of nine teams that will compete over the two-day event.

Chris Melvin, who is from Medfield, MA, enters the tournament leading the Mid-American Conference in average (72.42) in 12 rounds. Melvin is coming off an impressive showing at the ODU/OBX Tournament played at the Kilmarlic Golf Course in Point Powells, NC. The right hander improved in each round over the three-day event, including a new single round career-low of 68 (-3) over his final round. Melvin's 54-hole total of 211 (73-70-68) tied his lowest score in his career.

Fellow classmate Brett Rinker, who is a freshman from Slippery Rock, PA, also found his stroke at the ODU/OBX Tournament. The right hander shot a career-low 67 (-4) in the final round, falling four strokes shy of the school record (63). His three-day total of 211 (71-73-67) tied him for eighth place overall. Rinker is third overall in the MAC with a scoring average of 72.92 in 12 rounds.

Freshman Jose Narro (73.17) and junior Ryan Triller (74.67) have both played in 12 rounds for Bowling Green, placing each in the top-10 overall in scoring average.

As a team, the Falcons' have accumulated 3,508 total strokes through the fall, averaging 292.33 strokes per round.
