Bowling Green will enter the final day only 12 shots behind Louisiana-Monroe, who leads the field of nine teams with a 568.
Head coach Kevin Farrell showcased a lineup of Joe Cooper, Chris Melvin, Jose Narro, Brett Rinker and Ryan Triller in a field that featured 47 players.
The Falcons' trifecta of Rinker, Melvin and Narro opened the tournament on fire, shooting identical 4-under-par 68's.
Rinker, who is coming off a career-low 67 last week, opened his first 18 holes with three birdies on the front nine. The right hander made back-to-back birdies on the par-4 fourth and the par-4 fifth, giving him a 2-under-par start. Rinker later made another birdie on the par-3 eighth hole, making the turn with a 35 (-1).
Rinker carried the momentum on the back nine, birding three of his first six holes. After making bogey on the par-4 15th, the freshman recovered with a birdie on the 18th hole to enter the clubhouse with a 33 (-3).
With continuous play throughout the day, Rinker played his second round 1-over-par 73, finishing the day with a total of 141 (68-73) to place him in fourth overall.
Melvin, who also is coming off an impressive week, opened his day with three birdies on the front nine. Making the turn sitting at 1-under-par, Melvin played the back nine making par or better. His bogey-free back nine, which included three more birdies, gave him a total of 33 to card a first round 68.
The right hander played his second round 6-over-par 78, giving him a 36-hole total of 146. Melvin will enter the final round tied for 14th overall.
Fellow classmate Narro, who is also a freshman, mirrored both Rinker and Melvin. However, Narro's two eagles on the back nine set the tone in his first round. The right hander made two eagles in a five-hole stretch, helping him play the lengthy holes 5-under-par in his first round.
Narro followed his first round with a 6-over-par 78, placing him tied for 14th overall.
The trifecta each shot identical nines (35-33) in the opening round, combining for a score of 12-under-par.
Following suite, Cooper was able to hold his own at the Quail Valley Golf Club. The lefty came out and fired a 2-under-par 34 on the front nine. Cooper made a birdie on the par-5 third hole and followed with another on the par-3 eighth. Cooper battled the back nine, carding a 38 to fire an opening round even-par 72.
Cooper also shot a 6-over-par 78 in over his second round, carding a 150 (72-78). Cooper sits tied for 30th entering the final 18 holes. Triller also competed on the day, totaling a score of 150 (75-75), also sitting in a tie for 30th position.
