Falcons Battle On Day Two Of TYR Invitational

Evanston, Ill. – Bowling Green's relay teams continued to shine at Northwestern University's TYR Invitational Saturday and the Falcons finished day two in fourth place. The Falcons have 366 points as a team, trailing Northwestern, Michigan State and Missouri State.
BGSU's 200 medley relay team of Maya Skorupski, Daniela Carrillo, Joelle Scheps and Brittany Szekely finished second with a season-best time of 1:44.30, just edging Northwestern's team. The Falcons' "B" relay placed fifth overall as well.
In the 800 freestyle relay, Victoria Griffin, Scheps, Emily Waller and Petra Laudova picked up the Falcons' second second-place relay finish with a time of 7:33.25.
After winning two events on day one, the Falcons were unable to add to their first-place total, but the team did score big points in the 100 breaststroke. Both Carrillo and Young qualified for the championship finals and placed fourth and seventh, respectively. On top of that, Stephanie Boyle added a 16th place finish in the consolation final.
The Falcons added three seventh-place finishes in championship finals. Jordan Bullock qualified for the 400 individual medley in eighth place during the prelims, but climbed a spot in the finals. Scheps placed seventh in the 200 freestyle and Skorupski did the same in the 100 backstroke.
Bowling Green will close out the weekend Sunday with the final day of the TYR Invitational. The team will then be off until competing in the US Short Course Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn. Dec. 5-7.
