Rochester, Mich. – The Bowling Green swimming team will look for its second consecutive meet victory as the Falcons face Oakland at the OU Aquatic Center Friday at 4 p.m. Oakland is 4-1 on the season, while Bowling Green is 1-2 following a win over Xavier.

LAST TIME OUT
Bowling Green won 10 events and dominated Xavier 171-89 Saturday. BGSU's 400 freestyle relay team of Kayla Effinger, Erica Nieminen, Maya Skorupski and Victoria Griffin set a new pool record with a time of 3:33.61 and Griffin did the same in winning the 100 freestyle in 51.43 seconds. In all, eight different student-athletes won eight individual races, as well as two relay victories.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
BGSU is ranked at the top of the MAC, according to CollegeSwimming.com, in one event and is ranked second in five others during the early part of the season. In the 200 freestyle, freshman Victoria Griffin is ranked first and Joëlle Scheps is second. Griffin also ranks No. 2 in the conference in the 100 freestyle, while Brittany Szekely is No. 2 in the 50 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Anna Babinec and Szekely rank second, as does the 400 freestyle relay team of Griffin, Effinger, Petra Laudova and Szekely.

TEAM RANKINGS
In the most recent CollegeSwimming.com conference rankings, the two Mid-American Conference opponents that Bowling Green has faced, Miami and Eastern Michigan, rank first and second in the league. Toledo follows in third and Bowling Green is fourth. Following the Falcons is Ball State, Ohio, Akron and Buffalo.

GRIFFIN NAMED MAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
It hasn't taken long for Victoria Griffin to make her mark in the Mid-American Conference. The freshman earned MAC Swimmer of the Week honors after winning three individual events and two relay races in weekend meets against Miami and Xavier. Griffin is 5-0 in the 100 and 200 freestyle this year (winning three times in the 100 free and twice in the 200 free).

SZEKELY DOMINATING THE 50 FREESTYLE
Senior Brittany Szekely won the 500 freestyle at Eastern Michigan in a time of 23.67 seconds, a mark which ranks second in the Mid-American Conference this year. She was also the team's top finisher in the event against Miami.

400 FREESTYLE RELAY STILL UNBEATEN
Bowling Green has won the 400 freestyle relay against Eastern Michigan and Xavier this year, but did not swim the event against Miami. Victoria Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Petra Laudova and Brittany Szekely swam a season-best time of 3:29.92 to win at Eastern Michigan, while Effinger, Erica Nieminen, Maya Skorupski and Griffin also won at Xavier in a time of 3:33.61.

MEDLEY RELAY ROLLING
Bowling Green won the 200 medley relay against both Eastern Michigan and Xavier and finished first in the 400 medley relay against Miami. Maya Skorupski, Daniela Carrillo, Joëlle Scheps and Brittany Szekely won at Eastern Michigan and the same team followed up with the win in the longer distance at Miami. Finally, Scheps, Carrillo, Kayla Effinger and Victoria Griffin earned the 200 medley relay win at Xavier.
