Burke, Holmes Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week
December 16, 2013 | General, Men's Basketball, Ice Hockey
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. With no female teams in action this week, hockey player Tommy Burke and men's basketball player Richaun Holmes shared men's honors.

Male Athletes of the Week
Tommy Burke, a sophomore from Chaska, Minn., stopped 82 shots with a .932 save percentage as BGSU Hockey went 1-0-1 on the road against league-rival Michigan Tech. He led the Falcons during a key 5-on-3 penalty kill late in Friday's 3-2 win. Burke had a career-high 39 saves in Friday night's game but that last just one day as he had 43 the next night.
Richaun Holmes, a junior from Lockport, Ill., averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and a remarkable 7.0 blocks per game as BGSU went 2-0 on the week. He tied the school record with seven blocks in the win over North Dakota and then matched it in a win at Morehead State. Holmes recorded his first double-double with 21 points and 14 boards in the first game of the week.
