BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Former Bowling Green Falcons men's ice hockey defenseman Jackson Niedermayer has signed his first professional contract, joining the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL, the organization announced Thursday.
Niedermayer heads to the professional ranks following a standout senior season with the Falcons. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native recorded 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) while posting a team-best +16 rating during the 2025-26 season.
A key contributor on Bowling Green's blue line, Niedermayer was named CCHA Defenseman of the Week on Jan. 26 after helping the Falcons sweep Bemidji State Beavers men's ice hockey with a three-assist, +4 performance in the series.
Over his collegiate career at Bowling Green and Arizona State University, Niedermayer appeared in 124 NCAA games, totaling 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists) while showcasing rare versatility by playing both forward and defenseman. During the 2023-24 season at Arizona State, he ranked third on the team in goals (9) and second in plus-minus (+13).
Prior to the collegiate level, Niedermayer played junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Penticton Vees, where he recorded 51 points (25 goals, 26 assists) in 88 games. He also posted career-best numbers in 2019-20 with 45 points (23 goals, 22 assists) in 52 games, adding six points in five playoff contests.
Hockey runs deep in the Niedermayer family. Jackson is the son of Hockey Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer and the nephew of former NHL standout Rob Niedermayer. The brothers famously won the Stanley Cup together in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks and also captured gold for Canada at the 2004 IIHF World Championship.
One of the most accomplished players in hockey history, Scott Niedermayer won four Stanley Cups, two Olympic gold medals, the Conn Smythe Trophy, and the Norris Trophy, and is a member of the prestigious Triple Gold Club. His achievements earned induction into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the IIHF Hall of Fame.
Jackson Niedermayer is expected to make his professional debut with Tulsa during the club's current road trip. The Oilers are the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks and the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League.
Niedermayer's signing marks the latest step in a Bowling Green pipeline that continues to send Falcons to the professional ranks, further highlighting the program's tradition of developing players ready to compete at the next level.
