Adams, Martin & Miller to join BGSU program for 2014-15 academic year
Bowling Green State University tennis coach Penny Dean recently announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Madison Adams (Wexford, Pa.), Meili Martin (Proctorville, Ohio) and Megan Miller (Sylvania, Ohio) will join the Falcon program for the 2014-15 academic year.
"We are very excited to welcome Maddy, Meili and Megan to the Falcon family," said Dean. "The Three Musketeers, as I call them, will step right in as freshmen and continue to uphold the rich tradition that is Bowling Green tennis. Their tennis acumen and amazing academic accomplishments are second to none, and we look forward to their arrival on campus next fall."
Adams, a native of Wexford, Pa., is currently in her senior year at North Allegheny High School. The number-one singles player for the Tigers of coach Michelle Weniger, she sat out portions of her senior season due to injury, missing the section singles tournament. Adams competed in the doubles tournament, however, winning the Class AAA Section 2 title and finishing second in the state in the WPIAL Class AAA tournament. Adams helped the team to WPIAL and PIAA championships
Adams, the daughter of Lloyd and Cindy Adams, is ranked 14th in the state of Pennsylvania and 52nd in the Middle Atlantic region by TennisRecruiting.net.
Martin, a native of Proctorville, Ohio, is currently a senior at Chesapeake High School. Her high school does not have a tennis team, but she and her sister, Minda, competed in the state championships in doubles. That duo won Southeast sectional and district championships in 2012, Martin's junior year, before falling in the state semifinals. In Meili's senior year, 2013, she and Minda advanced to the state quarterfinals. Both were named to the Ohio Tennis Coaches' Association All State First Team in doubles in both 2012 and '13.
Martin, the daughter of Matthew and Leslie Martin, is ranked 11th in the state of Ohio and 37th in the Great Lakes region according to TennisRecruiting.net.
Miller, a native of Sylvania, Ohio, is currently in her senior year at Northview High School. She won the Northern Lakes League title at the number-one singles flight in each of her four years, and advanced to the Division I state tennis tournament three times in her career. She advanced to the state quarterfinals in singles in both her junior and senior seasons, and was named to the OTCA All State Second Team in singles in both years. Miller won the district title in each of her last two years, including a 6-0, 6-0 win in the final match in her senior year. That match was held at BGSU.
Miller, the daughter of Greg and Susie Miller, is ranked 13th in the state of Ohio and 45th in the Great Lakes region by TennisRecruiting.net. Megan's mother was her high-school coach at Northview.
The 2013-14 Falcon tennis team completed the fall portion of the schedule in November, and BGSU is now idle from competition until late January. There are two seniors – Nikki Chiricosta and Emily Reuland – on the seven-woman squad, which also includes sophomores Katie Brozovich and Drew Fillis along with freshmen Hannah Drayton, Harley Hutchison and Brittany Plaszewski.
