Falcons To Play IPFW in BracketBusters

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will face IPFW Feb. 23 in the 11th and final BracketBusters series. Game time has been set for 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.
Bowling Green, which has gone 6-4 in the first 10 years of BracketBusters, will face an IPFW program that is currently 10-14 overall and 3-7 in the Summit League. The Mastodons have split two games with Mid-American Conference schools this year, losing to Eastern Michigan 60-47 and defeating Miami 57-56. Senior guard Frank Gaines is among the top 30 scorers in the country, averaging 19.0 points per contest.
Bowling Green is 1-1 all-time against IPFW, losing 81-75 to the Mastodons on Dec. 10, 2003 before evening the series with an 86-70 win in Anderson Arena on Dec. 21, 2004. The Falcons are 0-1 against Summit League schools this year, having dropped an 80-66 defeat to IUPUI in the NIT Season Tip-Off in Ann Arbor, Mich.
This will be the first BracketBuster meeting for Bowling Green against a Summit League school. The Falcons have played six games against Horizon League opponents (Youngstown State twice, Illinois-Chicago, Wright State, Detroit, and Valparaiso), two against the Ohio Valley Conference (Morehead State twice) one Sun Belt school (Arkansas Little Rock), and one Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference school (Canisius). A year ago, Bowling Green defeated Morehead State in the Stroh Center 73-60 behind eight Scott Thomas three-pointers.
