March 20, 2013 | Gymnastics
Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University gymnast Amanda Lievendag has been named Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week, after scoring a career-high 9.875 on uneven bars to win her seventh title on the event this season.
A sophomore from Baldwin, Md., Lievendag's mark tied for fifth-best in school history and helped the Falcons to a 195.175-192.950 win over Western Michigan last week in Anderson Arena. She notched another top-three finish on the vault, scoring a 9.8 to place third. Her contributions were key in helping the Falcons break the 195 barrier for the first time since 2005.
Lievendag is currently ranked fifth in the MAC on bars with a regional qualifying score of 9.820. As the Falcons' anchor, she has earned four scores above 9.85 this year, including back-to-back marks of 9.875 in the last two meets.
This is Lievendag's first time receiving the award.
