March 22, 2013 | Gymnastics
Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its first gymnastics All-MAC Team today, with a total of 12 individuals earning All-MAC First or Second Team honors. The Falcons were twice represented, landing both Megan Harrington and Jamilah Ali on the All-MAC Second Team. The All-MAC Team was voted on by head coaches and based on the athletes' performances during the regular season.
Harrington is the Falcons' top all-arounder this season, currently ranked fifth in the MAC all-around and seventh on beam. After adding difficulty to her routines this year, Harrington has scored career highs on every event, along with notching three all-around scores above 39.000. Her top performances have scored 9.85 (vault), 9.775 (bars), 9.825 (beam), 9.9 (floor) and 39.025 (all-around).
Ali, last year's MAC Freshman of the Year winner, has continued to shine for Bowling Green. On vault, she is ranked fourth in the MAC with a 9.845 regional qualifying score. On beam and floor, Ali has upped her difficulty to include a standing layout-layout series (beam) and a double layout (floor). Like Harrington, Ali has earned career-high marks this season on vault, beam, floor (9.875 each) and all around (39.0). She was also named MAC Gymnast of the Week for the week of Jan. 8.
