Round One of Rio Verde Washed Out
March 08, 2013 | Women's Golf
RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The 2013 Rio Verde Invitational will now begin on Saturday as rain in the area has made the White Wing golf course unplayable on Friday.
For the first time in the 11-year history of the event, the Rio Verde Invitational loses a round of play due to rain and it will now be a 36-hole tournament beginning Saturday at 12 p.m. MT.
With today's cancellation, the tournament is going back to the 36-hole format for the first time since 2004. The event was originally a two-round tournament in its inaugural year of 2003 but that lasted only through the next year.
In a hope to have the best playing conditions possible, Saturday's first round will begin with a 12 p.m. MT shot gun start. Sunday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. MT as scheduled. Live scoring through www.golfstat.com will be available for both rounds.
