Softball Prepares For Midweek Play With IPFW

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University softball team (23-17, 7-9 MAC) will play a midweek doubleheader this Tuesday, facing off against Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) in non-conference play. The Falcons and Mastodons are tied, 4-4, in the all-time series, including a record of 1-3 under head coach Shannon Salsburg. Bowling Green most recently played IPFW in 2012, splitting a road series with the Mastodons in Fort Wayne.
Adrienne Dick led the Falcons with two hits in their first meeting last season, while Andrea Arney went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Jamie Kertes recorded five strikeouts, allowing a career-high eleven hits in 5.1 innings of work in the 3-1 loss. Bowling Green rebounded in the second contest, shutting out the Mastodons, 3-0. Arney had another strong game for the Falcons, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Hannah Fulk led Bowling Green with two RBI, while also drawing two walks. Paris Imholz and Kertes split the game, with Kertes getting credit for the win after allowing just one hit in 3.1 innings of work.

The IPFW Mastodons are 23-11 after a three-game sweep by the North Dakota State Bison over the weekend.
Offensively the team is batting .296 on the year, and led by third baseman Ashleigh Bousquet, who hits .410, while Larissa Franklin has hit .387 in 34 games. Brittany Kachur bats .329, with Dani Pugh hitting .327. Alex Bousquet is just off of the .300 pace, and is hitting .294. Ashleigh Bousquet leads the team with seven home runs and 32 RBI's. Franklin and Alex Bousquet have each scored 27 times to tie for the team lead, while Franklin leads the team with 20 stolen bases.
Sophomore pitcher Miranda Kramer has a 16-6 record with a 1.73 ERA and 178 strikeouts in 125.1 innings of work (9.9 per seven innings), while walking just 27 batters. Megan Flenniken is 6-5 on the year with a 2.63 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 93 innings, also with 27 walks.

Senior Hannah Fulk led the Falcons with a .455 batting average over the weekend, helping Bowling Green a 2-2 record, including back-to-back wins against Eastern Michigan. Fulk also led the Falcons with a .909 slugging percentage and 10 total bases. Fulk's weekend was highlighted by a 3-for-3 performance in a 6-1 win against Eastern Michigan, Fulk hit her fourth home run of the season against the Eagles in the victory, also collecting two RBI. Fulk led the Falcons with a .606 on-base percentage, and also added a triple in Bowling Green's game against Central Michigan on Friday.

The Orange and Brown completed the season sweep of Eastern Michigan Sunday afternoon, defeating the Eagles by a score of 6-1. The win pushed the Falcons' overall record to 23-17, with a Mid-American Conference record of 7-9.
