Falcons Climb to Seventh After Day Two of MAC Championships

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team improved by nine shots and in the process, climbed one spot to sit in seventh after 36 holes of action at the Mid-American Conference Golf Championships. The three-day event is held in Nashport, Ohio, at Longaberger Golf Club.
Kent State continues to lead the field following play on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes (601) currently hold an 11 shot lead over Ball State (312). Rounding out the rest of the field are Eastern Michigan (621), Toledo (629), Western Michigan (632), Akron (643), Bowling Green (645), Northern Illinois (654) and Ohio (670).
Freshman Lily Bartell continues to lead the Falcons after carding a 79 on Saturday. Bartell is tied for 13th among the 45-player field with a 157 (78-79).
Patricia Holt completed her second consecutive 81, matching her same score from the opening round. Holt is tied for 26th (162).
The biggest improvement of the day came from Amy Ruthenberg. After opening with a disappointing 85 on Friday, the senior rebounded with a team-leading 78. Her Saturday round included two consecutive birdies on holes 10 and 11 (nearly added a third birdie on hole 9). Ruthenberg is tied for 30th with a 163.
Shelby Wilson and Bailey Arnold joined Ruthenberg in the improvement category. Wilson carded an 81 in round two, two shots lower than her Friday round. Arnold fired an 80 on Saturday, five shots better than her opening 18 holes. Wilson is tied for 32nd (164), followed by Arnold, who is tied for 34th (165).
The third and final round will start early on Sunday morning. Due to projected thunderstorms, BGSU will tee off starting at 7 a.m.
