Lima native will join BGSU program this fall
Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Lindsay Basalyga has announced the addition of one student-athlete to the roster. Taylor Dackin will join the Falcons for the 2013-14 academic year.
Dackin, a native of Lima, Ohio, was a four-year letterwinner at Lima Bath H.S. under coach Morgan Lashaway. She had 31 goals and 16 assists in her first three years with the Wildkittens, including 15 goals and 10 assists as a junior. Dackin missed her senior season due to injury. After finishing with a 5-10-3 record her freshman season, Dackin and the Wildkittens went a combined 23-10-6 over the next two years, including a 12-4-4 mark in her junior campaign. Bath went 5-2-2 in the Western Buckeye League in both her sophomore and junior years.
Dackin was a first-team All-WBL selection and second-team all-district pick as a junior, as Bath advanced to the regional semifinals for the first time in school history. The team returned to the regional semifinals in 2012. As a sophomore in 2010, Dackin was named to the all-league second team and also earned all-district honorable mention after scoring 10 goals and adding four assists.
A two-year soccer team captain, Dackin also played basketball and competed in track for the Wildkittens. She was the starting point guard on the 2011-12 Bath team that advanced to the state semifinals. After suffering her injury late in that junior season, she missed all of the soccer season and part of the basketball campaign as a senior, but returned to the hardwood in late December. She was named to the All-WBL First Team as Bath won the league title in 2012-13. The Wildkittens won the WBL crown in girls basketball in each of Dackin's four years.
Dackin's uncle, Rich Dackin, was a four-year starter at quarterback on the BGSU football team from 1986-89.
The addition of Dackin brings the total number of student-athletes in this year's freshman class to 10. Paige Amodio, Taylor Bucaro, Sabrina Cisneros, Jessica Creech, Michelle Denley, Jenna DiTusa, Haley Malaczewski, Alexis Manoa and Melissa Needham all inked National Letters of Intent with the Falcons during the February signing period.
