BGSU returns to action Saturday at Indiana State
Emilie Fillion's goal in the 40th minute of the match gave host Wright State University a 1-0 win over the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team in exhibition play Tuesday night (Aug. 13). The match, the first scrimmage of 2013 for both the Falcons and the Raiders, was held at WSU's Alumni Field.

The teams played three 30-minute periods in the scrimmage, and BG battled WSU through a scoreless first session. Just under 10 minutes into the second period, though, Fillion gave the home side the lead with what would prove to be the winning goal. Natalie Sedlock and Ashley Miltko drew assists on the play.
For the Falcons, junior Sidney Huth and redshirt freshman Courtney Hendrix combined for seven of the team's eight total shot attempts. The Raiders held advantages of 15-8 in total shots and 6-2 in shots on goal.
Huth had four shots, including both of BG's shots on target on the night, while Hendrix, who missed all of the 2012 season due to injury, fired three shots in Tuesday night's match. One of those Hendrix efforts rang off the crossbar early in the second period.
"I'm really pleased with our first challenge this fall," said Falcon head coach Lindsay Basalyga. "Playing three 30-minute periods gave us more opportunity to coach and regroup in between.
"We definitely saw improvement throughout the periods, and we did a good job of staying organized defensively despite giving up a goal. I'm happy that we have two more exhibitions to continue to solve problems and prepare us for our first game against Cleveland State."
For the Falcons, a total of 20 players saw action in the match, including 10 freshmen. That list included eight true freshmen and two redshirt frosh.
BGSU's three goalkeepers played one 30-minute period each. Redshirt freshman Lauren Cadel and true freshman Michelle Denley each stopped the only shot they faced, while another true freshman, Jenna DiTusa, saved three of four shots on goal.
The Falcons will return to Northwest Ohio to prepare for the second of three scheduled exhibitions. BG will hit the road this weekend for a Saturday (Aug. 17) match vs. Indiana State University. Then, the Brown and Orange will face Case Western Reserve University a week from Thursday night, Aug. 22, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. at Cochrane Field. The regular-season opener comes three days later, on Sunday, Aug. 25, at CSU.
