August 09, 2013 | Women's Soccer
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team is preparing for the 2012 season. Head coach Lindsay Basalyga and the Falcons began camp on Thursday (Aug. 8) with the team's photo day as well as organizational meetings. On Friday (Aug. 9), the team members took part in a fitness test before going through a morning as well as an afternoon practice.

Basalyga and her staff – assistant coach Rhonda Gottschalk, volunteer assistant Ahmad Smith and student assistant Amanda Nelson – return 13 letterwinners, including eight starters, from a year ago. The 2013 roster features a total of 26 players, including nine freshmen.
The roster also includes six seniors, including co-captains Alyssa Carmack and Jenny Fowler. Fowler, the lone fifth-year Falcon, is a team co-captain for the second-straight season. Ivi Casagrande, Kaitlyn Tobin, Tracy Togba and Madeline Wideman round out the senior class.
The Falcons have little time to prepare before the first of three scrimmages. BGSU ventures to Dayton for a Tuesday (Aug. 13) night game at Wright State (NOTE: This is a scheduling change, as the scrimmage originally was to be played at BGSU). Then, the Brown and Orange will play an exhibition at Indiana State on Saturday, Aug. 17. BGSU's first match at Cochrane Field will come on Thursday night, Aug. 22, as the Falcons meet Case Western Reserve in a 7:00 p.m. start. Again this season, admission to all BG preseason and regular-season matches is free.
The Falcons' regular-season opener is set for Sunday afternoon, Aug. 25, at Cleveland State. The regular-season home opener will come the following weekend, as BG hosts Butler on Saturday, Aug. 31, in a 4:00 p.m. start at Cochrane.
