Tobin, Wideman Named to Academic All-Ohio Team

Michigan natives earn third-team honors from OCSA

Tobin, a native of Bay City, Mich. (John Glenn H.S.), played in all 17 of BGSU's matches in her senior season, making 14 starts. She finished second on the team with six points, and her total of three goals tied her for the BG lead. Tobin scored the tying goal in the second half as the Falcons played eventual Mid-American Conference East Division champion Miami to a 1-1 draw, and she also found the back of the net in matches against Michigan State and Ohio. She started all 11 MAC matches, and played 945 of BGSU's 1,030 total minutes in conference action. In her career, Tobin played in a total of 66 matches, making 44 starts, and she had 11 points on four career goals and three assists.
In the classroom, Tobin is a psychology major, and had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.802 at the time of nomination.
Wideman, who hails from Troy, Mich. (Troy H.S.), was one of three Falcons to start all 17 matches in 2013. She led the team in scoring, with nine points on the year, and tied with Tobin for the BG goals lead, with three. Wideman also paced the Brown and Orange with three assists. Wideman had 44 total shots and 17 shots on goal to lead BGSU in both categories. Her goals came against Evansville, Kent State and Akron, and she had assists vs. IUPUI, Michigan State and Ohio. Wideman had a BG season-best three-game scoring streak in late September, and she was involved in the scoring of 67 percent of BG's goals on the year. Wideman played in 75 of BGSU's 76 matches during her career, starting 64 contests. She had career totals of 28 points on eight goals and 12 assists, leading all members of the 2013 team in each of those three categories.
A health science major, Wideman had a cumulative GPA of 3.764 at the time of nomination.
The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association is one of the oldest and most prestigious college soccer associations in the nation. The OCSA represents all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions, all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) divisions and all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) divisions in the state of Ohio.
