January 14, 2014 | Women's Basketball
FALCON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL INFORMATION
BGSU women's basketball releases and other information can be accessed via the Internet. Log on to BGSUFalcons.com to receive information on all 18 intercollegiate sports. The women's basketball site includes a schedule, roster, all press releases (usually in portable document [.pdf] as well as text format), results (including boxscores) and up-to-date statistics. Members of the media can request to receive releases and game notes via e-mail by contacting BGSU women's basketball SID Mike Cihon (mjcihon@bgsu.edu).
BGSU RADIO & INTERNET BROADCASTS
The BGSU department of athletics, Falcon Sports Properties and the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization (BGRSO) have reached an agreement under which WBGU-FM (88.1) will serve as the flagship station for Falcon women's basketball again this season. The group is scheduled to broadcast every regular-season game in 2013-14, and would carry any postseason action as well. Announcers vary on a game-to-game basis. In the event of possible conflicts with BGSU hockey broadcasts (WBGU is also the flagship station for Falcon hockey), the games will still be available on the web. Regardless of conflicts, however, all games can be heard on the web at the official web site for BGSU Athletics, BGSUFalcons.com.
CREDENTIALS
Press and photo credentials for Falcon women's basketball home games SHOULD BE REQUESTED AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE. Seating is limited to working press only. Requests should be directed to Mike Cihon via 'snail mail' (BGSU Athletic Communications, 247 Perry Stadium East, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403-0030) or e-mail (mjcihon@bgsu.edu). Pass holders also will have their names placed on a parking list which the parking lot attendants will have on game day. Press passes can be picked up at the media will-call entrance at the loading dock area on the west side of the Stroh Center. Passes are not typically mailed unless a unique situation dictates otherwise.
INTERVIEWS
All interviews with players and coaches should be arranged through the athletic communications office. Please allow at least 24 hours (longer, if possible) to set up interviews. HOME, CELL AND/OR DORM ROOM PHONE NUMBERS FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES (IN ANY SPORT) WILL NOT BE MADE AVAILABLE. Student-athletes will not be asked to miss class for any interviews or media opportunities. Arrangements will be made for telephone and/or in-person interviews at a mutually-agreeable time.
PHOTOGRAPHERS
Only those accredited photographers working on assignment will be issued credentials. No flashes or strobe units are permitted without prior clearance from the athletic communications office or Stroh Center staff. Photographers should shoot from the designated areas along the end lines of the court, and must not block the view of fans. Photographers needing a seat at press row for in-game transmission of photos must make their request in advance of the game.
DIRECTIONS TO THE STROH CENTER
The quickest and most convenient way to the Stroh Center is via Interstate 75. Take exit 181 off of I-75 and head west (toward Doyt Perry [football] Stadium) on Wooster Street. You will pass the Stroh Center on your right as you proceed to the second traffic light (Mercer Road) and turn right. Turn right on the next street (Alumni Drive) and continue to the Stroh Center parking lot. Media members are encouraged to park in the Northwest corner of the Stroh Center parking lot. PARKING IN THE LOADING DOCK AREA IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION FROM THE BGSU ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE OR STROH CENTER STAFF. Even then, parking in the loading dock area will only be permitted briefly, in special circumstances (for example, a radio station needing to drop off equipment several hours prior to tipoff).
PARKING
Media are encouraged to park in the West or Northwest end of the Stroh Center parking lot, just off of Alumni Drive. Anyone holding a press credential is entitled to free parking, but an early arrival is suggested. Media members picking up their credentials at the media will call entrance will have their names included on a parking list.
PRESS ROW SERVICES
Program inserts, game notes, and other pertinent game information will be supplied in the media room, located on the north side of the Stroh Center. A complete box score and play-by-play will be available in the post-game interview area (media room) shortly after the game's completion. There are several telephones for use after the game, along with wireless internet access.
POST-GAME INTERVIEWS
Post-game press conferences will be held in the media area just off the court on the Northwest corner, approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of the game. Unless circumstances dictate otherwise, the visiting coach and any requested players will speak first, followed by Coach Roos and requested BGSU players. BGSU observes a closed lockerroom policy. NO INTERVIEWS OF PLAYERS OR COACHES ARE TO BE CONDUCTED ON THE COURT, WITH THE LONE EXCEPTION OF AN ON-CAMERA INTERVIEW BY THE TELEVISION STATION THAT AIRED THE GAME.
VISITING RADIO
Requests for permission to broadcast must be made in writing to Mike Cihon (mjcihon@bgsu.edu) at least one week prior to the game. There is typically a fee for stations wishing to broadcast a game at the Stroh Center. However, the fee will be waived for the official station of the visiting school if there is a reciprocal agreement. The official station of the visiting school will be located on press row on the north sideline at court level. Any ancillary visiting radio stations will be located on the north side of the Stroh Center on the second level.
