Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University's Anthony Henderson was named the Madness Mid-American Men's Basketball Player of the Week by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com) on Monday, Jan. 20, for his play last week in which the Falcons went 2-0 in MAC play.
Henderson was key in the Falcons going 2-0 last week, with both wins coming in MAC play, and snapping a four-game losing skid. The shooting guard averaged 20 points, a team-high, 1.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists on the week, as he shot over 52 percent (9-of-17) from behind the three-point line in 73 minutes of play.
In BGSU's home win over Central Michigan on Wednesday night, the 6-1 guard tallied 13 points on 4-of-10 (40 percent) shooting from the field and 3-of-4 (75 percent) from the charity stripe. He followed that performance up with a career-high 27 points in the MAC road win at Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon. Henderson drained a career-high seven three-pointers, as he was 7-of-10 (70 percent) from downtown, including four trey's in a six minute period in the second half that erased the Broncos' 15 point lead and got BGSU back into the contest. He also added four steals in the road win and was 10-fo-16 (62.5 percent) overall from the field, as a key layup with 15 seconds left in the game helped to seal the 69-64 come from behind win for BGSU on Sunday afternoon.
Henderson becomes the second BGSU player to receive the Madness weekly honor, as fellow teammate Richaun Holmes earned the weekly recognition back on Dec. 16.
