A FREE BOWLING GREEN SCARF FOR THE FIRST 50 STUDENTS ON FRIDAY NIGHT
The BGSU women's soccer program will be giving out a free scarf to each of the first 50 students that sit in the student section on Friday night as the Falcons host the Bobcats of Ohio at 7 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium. The women's soccer team shows you ways to wear a scarf (CLICK HERE)
WOMEN'S SOCCER ALUMNAE WEEKEND: 2004 TEAM RECOGNIZED
This weekend the BGSU Athletics Department is hosting Legacy Weekend, a celebration of 50 years of both the Falcon Club and the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame. As part of the festivities, the women's soccer program will also be holding its Alumnae Weekend, which includes recognizing its returning alumnae on Sunday afternoon during halftime of the Falcons' match versus Ohio. The 2004 women's soccer team, which won the first MAC Championship in BGSU women's soccer history, and was an NCAA Championship participant, will also be recognized at the football game on Saturday afternoon.
SENIOR DAY ON SUNDAY
BGSU will host its Senior Day on Sunday afternoon prior to the 1 p.m. first touch with Kent State at Cochrane Stadium. The Falcons will recognize redshirt-senior Kylie Briem, senior Ashley Garr and senior Sidney Huth.
OUTLOOK ON OHIO
The Bobcats of Ohio are 6-8-0 overall and 3-3-0 in MAC play this season. Ohio, who is 2-4-0 in true road contests this season, has traded wins and losses over its last eight matches. The Bobcats are coming off a 2-0 loss versus Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Oct. 12. Eight different players have notched a goal for Ohio this season led by Alexis Milesky's three goals, while goalkeeper Nicole Amari has played every minute in the goal for Ohio on the year, tallying 76 saves and four shutouts thus far this season.
KEEPING UP WITH KENT STATE
Kent State, who will take on Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 17, enters play this week at 7-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play. The Golden Flashes are coming off a home weekend in which KSU played Miami (Ohio) to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 10, before suffering a 1-0 loss to Ball State on Oct. 12. Kent State has posted MAC wins over Akron and Western Michigan thus far this season. The Golden Flashes have totaled 20 goals on the year and are led by Jenna Hellstrom's team-high five goals and five assists. Having outscored their opponents 20-11 on the season, goalkeeper Stephanie Senn has been big in the net for the Golden Flashes, recording 68 saves and six shutouts on the year.
CADEL SAVE-INGS
Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Cadel has once again had a strong season in goal for the Falcons thus far in 2014, as she has posted 95 saves on the year which leads the MAC this season. In fact, Cadel has recorded double digit saves three times this season, including a career-high 13 saves versus Toledo on Oct. 12. Last year, Cadel registered 109 saves on the season.
MAC WIN - IN DRAMATIC FASHION
The Falcons recorded its first MAC win of the season in dramatic fashion at Akron on Sunday afternoon, as BGSU shutout the Zips and got a late goal from freshman Skylar Fleak in the 95th minute of the extra frame to come away with the 1-0 conference win. Fleak's game-winning goal gave the Falcons their first MAC win since defeating Northern Illinois 2-0 at home on Oct. 23, 2011. The conference road win on Sunday was also the first MAC road win for the Falcons since BGSU won at Buffalo 2-1 on Sept. 23, 2011.
WRAPPING UP A THREE WEEK ROAD TRIP WITH A "W"
The Falcons wrapped up its five-match road swing, which encompassed nearly three weeks away from Cochrane Stadium, with a 1-0 overtime MAC win at Akron on Sunday, Oct. 5. BGSU's Fleak scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute of the extra period to give the Falcons the road win.
BALANCED SCORING ATTACK
A total of EIGHT different players have registered at least one goal thus far this year. Freshman Skylar Fleak and senior Sidney Huth lead the way with four and two goals apiece, respectively, while Madison Schupbach, Kara Ross, Jessica Creech, Paige Amodio, Rachel Winters and Jennifer Reyes all have one goal on the year.
FALCON CAREER FIRSTS IN 2014
A total of 10 different players have recorded a career first thus far in 2014 for the Falcons. Skylar Fleak, Madison Schupbach, Kara Ross, Jessica Creech, Paige Amodio, Rachel Winters and Jennifer Reyes have all registered their first career goals this season, while freshmen Leah Runkle and Alexa Cheripko have each tallied their first career assist already this season. Junior Alexis Smith registered her first career save in goal for the Falcons this year as well.
SCORING OUTPUT IN 2014
The Falcons have totaled 12 goals thus far in 2014, surpassing its season total from both 2013 and 2012. BGSU had a total of nine goals as a team in both 2013 and 2012.
SIDNEY HUTH EARNS MAC WEEKLY HONORS (SEPT. 8, 2014)
Senior forward Sidney Huth was named the MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer on Sept. 8 by the conference office. Huth had a career night in the Falcons 8-0 win over Chicago State on Sept. 7, as the forward tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Huth, who played a part in four straight goals for the Falcons in just a little over a 15 minute span, assisted on the second goal of the match, scored the third, aided in the fourth and converted the fifth in the rout of the Cougars.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER; 8-0 BLOWOUT OF CHICAGO STATE
The Falcons had five players notch their first career goals in the 8-0 win, while senior Sidney Huth had a career night with two goals and two assists as four different players recorded both a goal and an assist in the blowout win. The win is the first of the season for the Falcons and is the first victory for BGSU under head coach Lindsay Basalyga. BGSU's last win came back on Aug. 26, 2012, when BGSU defeated IUPUI 2-1 at Cochrane Stadium. The win is also the first road win for the Falcons since Bowling Green beat Buffalo 2-1 at Buffalo on Sept. 23, 2011. The 8-0 win marks the largest margin of victory for the Falcons on the pitch since BGSU overwhelmed Youngstown State by nine goals in a 10-1 win back on Oct. 3, 2001. The win over IUPUI in 2012 was also the last time the Falcons scored multiple goals in a contest prior to the eight goals scored tonight at Chicago State.
CADEL RANKED NO. 16 OVERALL IN THE MAC BY TOPDRAWERSOCCER
As part of the preseason player rankings, TopDrawerSoccer.com released its top-20 women's soccer players in each conference across the country this weekend and Bowling Green State University's Lauren Cadel came in at No. 16 overall in the Mid-American Conference.
FALCONS ALL-TIME VERSUS THE 2014 FOES
The Falcons have a combined all-time wins total of 81 victories over its 2014 foes, including 11 wins versus Buffalo and 10 wins over Kent State. Overall, the Falcons entered the season at 81-113-26 against its slated 2014 opponents.
AMODIO EARNS PRESEASON MADNESS ALL-MAC HONORS
Bowling Green State University sophomore defender Paige Amodio was named to the College Sports Madness Mid-American 2014 Preseason All-Conference Second-Team.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The 2014 BGSU women's soccer roster boast a total of 14 sophomores and freshmen out of the 22 player squad. In fact, of the 14 total underclassmen, 10 are either redshirt-freshmen or true freshmen.
THE RETURNING CORE
The Falcons have a core of nine returners back in 2014, six of which started over 50 percent of the matches last season for BGSU. Back are seniors Ashley Garr (Goodrich, Mich.) and Sidney Huth (Lebanon, Ohio), as well as redshirt-senior Kylie Briem (Beavercreek, Ohio). Fellow upperclassmen include juniors Haley Parkinson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Emma Norris (Sycamore, Ill.) and Lauren Cadel (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada), while sophomores Melissa Needham (Saline, Mich.), Paige Amodio (Strongsville, Ohio) and Jessica Creech (Troy, Mich.) will all look to make an impact in their second seasons of play at the collegiate level.
A TOTAL OF 13 NEW FACES ON THE BGSU ROSTER
This season, the Falcons have a total of 13 new faces on the roster as Coach Basalyga and her staff begin the process of restoring the program back to championship contenders. BGSU added transfers Alexis Smith (Livonia, Mich./Schoolcraft College), Alexa Cheripko (Pickerington, Ohio/Otterbein University) and Kara Ross (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada/Brock University), as well as newcomers Evelina Hellgren (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden/Parkskolan), Leah Runkle (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), Rachel Winters (Plymouth, Mich./Canton), Madison Schupbach (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek), Erica Hubert (Welland, Ontario, Canada/ E.L. Crossley), Skylar Fleak (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut), Mikaela Couch (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South), Sarah Quimby (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg), Elisa Baeron (Selsingen, Germany/St.-Viti-Gymnasium Zeven) and Jennifer Reyes (Elkhart, Ind./Concord).
REBUILD & RESTORE
BGSU head coach Lindsay Basalyga is in her second year at the helm of the Falcons women's soccer program and is on a mission to help rebuild the program back to its championship ways. Since BGSU posted 12 wins and advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Championship Tournament in 2008, the Falcons have won only 16 matches over the last five years and have failed to make it to the MAC Championship Tournament in each of those seasons.
FALCONS' FUTURE CONTESTS
BGSU will wrap up its 2014 regular season road slate with MAC bouts at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. The Falcons will take on Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Friday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m., before taking on Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT).
