Mid-American Conference Official Women's Soccer 2014 All-MAC Award Winners Release
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University's Lauren Cadel and Skylar Fleak both received All-MAC postseason honors, it was announced today by the Mid-American Conference office in Cleveland, Ohio. Cadel was named to the 2014 All-MAC Second Team, while Fleak earned a spot on the 2014 All-Freshman Team.
Cadel started and played in all 18 games in goal for the Falcons on the season and set a new BGSU single season record with 146 saves, which was also the most in the MAC. The redshirt-sophomore, who also led the MAC with an average of 8.11 saves per game on the year, posted a saves percentage of .834 on the season which ranked in the top-five among all MAC goalkeepers. Cadel, who was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week in October after back-to-back conference wins over Ohio and Kent State, registered double digit saves in six different contests this season, which included a career-high 14 stops in the home win over Ohio. In only two seasons in goal for the Falcons, Cadel already has 12 games in which she has recorded double digit saves, a BGSU school record.
In her first season as a Falcon, Fleak played in 17 games overall, starting 10 up front for BGSU. The freshman led the Falcons with five goals on the year, two of which were game-winners. She also led the Falcons in points with 11, in shots with 56, and in shots on goal with 26 on the year. Fleak scored the game-winning goals in a 1-0 overtime win at Akron and in a 1-0 home win versus Kent State. She also tallied goals in the win at Chicago State and in road games at both Cleveland State and Buffalo.
