Nell, Davis Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Chris Nell and swimmer Estela Davis.

Male Athlete of the Week
Chris Nell, a freshman from Green Bay, Wisc., stopped all 26 shots he faced Saturday night as BGSU Hockey earned a 5-0 win over No. 19 Northern Michigan. He improved to 5-0 on the year and picked up his second shutout. Nell turned away a total of 20 shots in the first two periods and then stopped all six shots fired his way in the third. Nell also helped the Falcons go 4-for-4 on the penalty kill, including a key 5-on-3 stoppage in the third period.
Female Athlete of the Week
Estela Davis, a sophomore from Ciudad Juarez, Chih, Mexico, won two individual events and two relays at the Eastern Michigan Invitational. In the 200 backstroke, she broke the EMU pool record with an NCAA B cut qualifying time of 1:57.80. She also swam an NCAA B qualifying time of 54.97 in the 100 backstroke, breaking the meet record in the process. She also swam a season best time of 4:20.11 in the 400 individual medley and was a member of winning 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay teams.
