Erica Donovan Named MAC Player of the Week

Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Erica Donovan has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Dec. 8). Donovan, a redshirt junior, earns the honor for the first time this season, and the second time in her BGSU career.

Donovan, a native of San Antonio, Texas (John Jay), had a double-double as the Falcons posted a 66-55 win over Cincinnati Sunday afternoon (Dec. 7), in the team's lone game of the week. Donovan led all players in scoring, with 17 points, and paced the Falcons with 10 rebounds in the win over the Bearcats. She had 30% of the team's successful field goals on the day, going 6-of-11, and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the free-throw line.

On the year, Donovan is averaging 13.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. She has topped the Falcons in both points and rebounds in each of the last three games.

Donovan has scored in double figures in each of the last five games, and is averaging 16.4 ppg in that time. Donovan has two double-doubles in the last four games, and fell just one rebound shy of posting a double-double in each of the other two games in that stretch.

Donovan was named the MAC Player of the Week for the East Division, while Ball State's Nathalie Fontaine earned this week's MAC P-O-W award for the West Division.

The Falcons of head coach Jennifer Roos are 4-2 overall after the win over UC, and BGSU will begin a stretch of five consecutive games away from home this weekend. The Brown and Orange will travel to Johnstown, Pa., to face Saint Francis (Pa.) in a neutral-site game on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 13), with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m.
