In the event of inclement weather, the match would be held at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. Check BGSUFalcons.com for the latest information as Saturday's match draws closer.
The Falcons of head coach Penny Dean enter Saturday's match with a 5-4 record. Last week, BGSU split a pair of duals in Palm Springs, Calif., topping Rhode Island, 5-2, before falling to nationally-ranked Gonzaga by a 7-0 result.
Saturday's WMU dual will be BGSU's first home match since Feb. 9. The Falcons are a perfect 2-0 in home action this season to date, with wins over Youngstown State (6-1; Jan. 26) and UIC (5-2; Feb. 9) at the PTC.
Senior co-captain Nikki Chiricosta has a chance to break two school records this weekend. The Avon Lake, Ohio, native has 89 career singles wins, and 178 combined career victories, and has tied the school record in each category. Christine Chiricosta (2008-11) set both of those school records.
Nikki currently is tied with her sister on all three BGSU career charts. Both Chiricostas have won 89 doubles matches at BG to deadlock for second on that list. Maddy Eccleston, a senior on last year's BGSU team, holds the school record with 97 doubles wins as a Falcon.
On the season, Chiricosta leads the Falcons with 29 overall wins, while sophomore Katie Brozovich has 26 and senior Emily Reuland 23. All three players have 12 singles wins this season to tie for the team lead, while Chiricosta paces the team in doubles victories. She is 17-7 in doubles play this season, including a 13-5 record when competing with Brozovich.
Sophomore Drew Fillis and freshmen Hannah Drayton and Harley Hutchison each have 16 overall wins this year to date, while freshman Brittany Plaszewski currently has seven wins in her initial season with the Falcons.
In her young career, Brozovich now has a singles record of 27-4 in dual-match play. She is 7-2 at the third flight this year after spending time at the fourth (10-1), fifth (2-0) and sixth (8-1) flights last spring.
Both seniors are high atop all three BGSU career wins lists. In addition to Chiricosta's lofty standings (mentioned above), Reuland has a total of 157 wins at BGSU, with 80 singles victories and 77 doubles wins. She sits in fourth place on the overall wins list, and also has moved into sole possession of fourth place in singles victories. Reuland, a team co-captain along with Chiricosta, is fifth in BG history in doubles victories heading into the WMU match.

Western Michigan has a record of 11-5 on the season, and the Broncos will bring a three-match winning streak to Northwest Ohio. Most recently, WMU picked up a 7-0 win over IUPUI last weekend (March 15). The Broncos are 7-1 at home, 3-4 on the road and 1-0 in neutral-site matches this year to date. Last year, coach Betsy Kuhle's team finished with an 11-14 overall mark and a 4-4 MAC ledger.
BGSU trails Western Michigan, 38-1, in the all-time series between the teams, but that one win came in the teams' last meeting. On the final day of the 2012-13 regular season (April 20, 2013), the Falcons picked up a 5-2 win on the road to clinch not only a berth in the MAC Championships, but the number-two seed for the league tourney.
In the teams' last meeting in Northwest Ohio, the Broncos eked out a 4-3 win at Keefe Courts (April 13, 2012), rallying for four singles wins after BG had swept the three doubles matches. BGSU has posted as many as two points vs. Western in five of the last six regular-season meetings, after being held to one point or fewer in 11 consecutive matches from 1999 to 2008.
Following this weekend's match, the Falcons will take to the road for the next two conference contests, facing Toledo (March 28) and Eastern Michigan (March 29) next weekend. Then, the Brown and Orange will return home for a season-long four-match homestand, beginning with an April 4 contest against Northern Illinois.
