Raker, Searle and Yoho Tabbed With All-MAC Honors

Three members of the Orange and Brown were honored with All-MAC honors.

Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2014 award winners Tuesday afternoon, honoring three Falcons in the process. Senior Katie Yoho was named to the All-Mac First Team for the first time of her career, while
freshman Chelsea Raker was honored to the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Freshman. Fellow classmate Aspen Searle was also tabbed to the All-MAC Freshman Team for her efforts in the 2014 campaign.
"I am so proud of Katie, Chelsea and Aspen. Being selected as an ALL-MAC player is a great honor," Falcons head coach Shannon Salsburg said. "It signifies not only the individual's hard work and dedications but also the teams."
Katie Yoho: All-MAC First Team

Katie Yoho, who hails from Grove City, Ohio, continued her leadership throughout her final season as a member of the Orange and Brown. Yoho finished the 2014 season batting .311 while starting in all 52 games for the Falcons. She also totaled a career-high 27 runs, 12 home runs, and 38 RBI while patrolling center field for Bowling Green. With her career-high 12 home runs for a single season, Yoho finished second all-time in the Bowling Green record books with 32 career home runs.

Yoho also finished tied for first in the MAC with seven home runs, while finishing tied for third with 19 RBI against MAC opponents throughout the season. In all, Yoho finished in the top-10 in seven different MAC offensive categories on the season, finishing with arguable her best offensive season at the plate during her four-year career with the Falcons.

Chelsea Raker: All-MAC Second Team / All-Mac Freshman Team

Freshman Chelsea Raker, a native of Westerville, Ohio, made her presence felt in the Falcon lineup in her first collegiate season under eighth year head coach Shannon Salsburg. Raker led the Orange and Brown with an including an impressive .349 batting average in 20 conference games, collecting 22 hits in 63 at bats. Raker also finished second on the team with five doubles, three home runs, and 18 RBI while accumulating a .571 slugging percentage against MAC opponents. Along with her strong offensive game, Raker played consistently as she converted from first base to third base during the season. Playing, what is considered the hot corner, Raker added 21 putouts and 42 assists in MAC games over the course of the season.

Overall, Raker's offensive numbers rose to the top on the Falcons' roster. The freshman held a team-best .325 batting and nine doubles in 52 starts for the Orange and Brown. She also led the Falcon freshman with 30 RBI and seven RBI in 160 at bats throughout the year.
Aspen Searle: All-MAC Freshman Team

Freshman Aspen Searle, who hails from Brantford, Ontario, started every game for the Falcons at short stop. Searle, who made the Canadian Junior National Team last summer, finished the season with an overall batting average of .300, while collecting 48 hits, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and a .400 slugging percentage. Searle ranked second on the team in hits, triples, and total bases for the Orange and Brown. Along with her strong offensive showing for the Falcons, Searle also held a .955 fielding percentage at short stop. Searle accumulated 71 putouts and 143 assists in all 52 games for Bowling Green.
"I am so proud of all three of them. Katie, Chelsea and Aspen thrived under pressure situations and other coaching staffs recognized that and honored it," Salsburg said.
