BGSU standout signs with LTB 29
Rogers, a native of West Chester, Ohio (Lakota West H.S.), signed a 10-month contract which runs from August to June, and is scheduled to leave for France on August 5. LTB 29 is located in Brest, a city in northwestern France.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity," said Rogers. "I'm excited to get to go to another country and continue doing what I love -- playing-basketball -- but I'm also excited to experience a different culture and learn new things."
Rogers was an All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection as well as a WBCA Coaches' All-America Team honorable-mention choice as a senior in 2013-14, earning each of those honors for the second time in three playing seasons at BGSU. She finished her BG career with 1,257 points in those three seasons, ranking 16th in school history in career scoring.
"Alexis has been afforded the opportunity to play the game that she loves as the professional level, and I believe she has the ability to make an impact with this club," said BGSU head coach Jennifer Roos. "Not only is this a chance for her to continue her playing career, it will also be a great life experience for her that she will always have.
"She had an outstanding collegiate career here at Bowling Green, and I look forward to following her professional career in France."
This past season, Rogers led the Falcons in scoring, with 14.5 points per game, and was second on the team with 8.0 rebounds per contest. Rogers also paced BG in field-goal percentage (53.5%), field goals made (178), free throws made (124) and attempted (153) and steals per game (1.7). She finished ninth in the MAC in both scoring and rebounding, and was third in the conference in FG pct., ranking 39th in the nation in the latter category.
Rogers scored in double figures 26 times on the year, including a BGSU-best nine games of 20 points or more. She had 10 double-digit rebounding games on the year, and recorded eight double-doubles. Rogers earned MAC Player-of-the-Week honors four times in her final season.
In her three playing seasons, Rogers helped the Falcons to an average of 26 wins per year. The Falcons went 78-23 overall and 42-8 in the MAC in that time, winning two MAC regular-season championships and advancing to national postseason play in all three years.
In her final season, Rogers helped the Falcons to a 30-5 overall record, the second-highest win total in both school and MAC history. The Brown and Orange won the MAC's regular-season title with a 17-1 league ledger, and BG win three games in the WNIT to advance to the quarterfinal round.
Rogers will be the seventh BGSU women's basketball player to play professionally, joining Megan McGuire (Ireland), Lori Albers (Spain), Ali Mann (Luxembourg and Portugal), Carin Horne (England), Kate Achter (Greece) and Lauren Prochaska (Poland) on that list.
