Pleger Set To Compete At USATF Outdoor Championships

Sacramento, Calif. – Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Brooke Pleger will compete in the hammer throw at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday beginning at 11 am. The meet is taking place at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University.
Pleger enters the meet with the ninth-best seed mark among the 18 athletes competing at the meet. A year ago, she finished 11th at the USATF Outdoor Championships and will look to improve upon that showing.
The meet features the top American hammer throwers and she is the top-seeded of five current collegians in the field, joining LSU's Denise Hinton, Akron's Brittany Funk, Colorado's Emily Hunsucker and Boise State's Hayli Bozarth.
Pleger placed third at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships this year following a strong 2014 outdoor season. She is a two-time first team All-American and was also recently named Capital One Third Team Academic All-American for her success both in competition and in the classroom.
