Gymnastics Team Announces Dynamic Home Schedule
July 18, 2014 | Gymnastics
Bowling Green, Ohio – Coming off its best season in 22 years, the Bowling Green State University gymnastics program will host Michigan State, Ohio State and defending Mid-American Conference champion Kent State during the 2015 season. In all, Bowling Green will host five meets, of which three will be against traditional MAC rivals.
"We look forward to giving our outstanding fans an absolutely great season," BGSU gymnastics coach Kerrie Turner said. "Along with a very competitive MAC schedule, we will face great competition both at home and on the road. I am particularly pleased to host Michigan State and Ohio State in historic Anderson Arena this year. With such a healthy mix of opponents, our talented team will really have an opportunity to accept these challenges with great performances."
BGSU will open the regular season at home by hosting Michigan State on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 pm. The Falcons will return to Anderson Arena to host a pair of meets during the first weekend of February. Ohio State will travel to Bowling Green for a 6 pm meet on Friday, Feb. 6. Two days later, the Falcons will host Ball State in the team's conference home opener at 2 pm on Sunday, Feb. 8.
BGSU will conclude the month of February by hosting Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 pm. Bowling Green will end the regular season with a meet that could have MAC Championship implications when BGSU hosts Kent State on Saturday, March 14. A year ago, Kent State went 6-0 in the MAC to win the regular season crown and Bowling Green finished third in the regular season and at the MAC Championship.
The MAC Championship will take place at Kent State on Saturday, March 21 with NCAA Regionals taking place Saturday, April 4 and the NCAA National Championship April 17-19.
The Falcons return a large nucleus from the team that posted the team's best results in more than two decades. Two of the team's three NCAA Regional qualifiers – Alyssa Nocella and Gina Locigno – will be back for the 2015 season, along with MAC Freshman of the Year Lauren Feely and MAC vault champion Amanda Lievendag. Nocella was also named MAC First Team All-Conference.
A complete schedule, including all road contests, will be released at BGSUFalcons.com once completed.
