Dino Babers Interview
The Bowling Green State University football team ran 151 plays on Saturday morning during their second scrimmage of fall camp. The scrimmage was played in front of a nice gathering of Falcon football season ticket holders and supporters. Both first units were sharp, as the offense scored on 8-of-10 drives while the defense did not allow any points in eight drives they were on the field.
Â
After a punt to start the scrimmage by both the first and second team offenses, Matt Johnson found Heath Jackson for a 4-yard touchdown reception on the second drive of the game. Gehrig Dieter and Jackson would catch touchdown passes on the next two drives from Johnson to give the offense three touchdowns in their first four drives.
Â
On the defensive side of the ball, Ryland Ward, Paul Senn, and Nick Johnson all came up with interceptions to halt drives during the scrimmage. The first-team defensive unit was sharp all day, not allowing the second-team offense to move the ball very efficiently at all.
Â
Andre Givens and Johnson would both record rushing touchdowns later in the scrimmage for the first team offense.
Â
Perhaps the most impressive drive of the day for the first team offense came right out of halftime, as they went 98 yards in three plays for a touchdown.
John Klingerman and Peter Norris both recorded touchdown receptions late in the scrimmage, coming from quarterbacks Cody Callaway and Nolan Dieter, respectively.
The Orange and Brown will continue fall camp next week, as they will take Sunday off to recover and get ready for the following week of practices. The season opener for the Falcons is just 13 days away, as they prepare to travel to Western Kentucky University to kick off the 2014 season on Aug. 29.
