Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team kicked-off its first preseason practice of the 2014 season on Thursday morning at the practice fields next to Cochrane Stadium on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
"We were really excited. We are a really young team with a lot of new faces, so I was just really excited for nine returners to be surrounded by the work, literally the work, that we have been putting in away from the field and in the recruiting process," commented head coach Lindsay Basalyga. "You know we just kind of put everyone together to just see where we are at."
The Falcons have nine returners from last season, eight of which will be playing under the same head coach for the second consecutive year for the first time in their career at BGSU, as Basalyga begins her second season at the helm of the women's soccer program in 2014.
The opening practice also saw 14 newcomers on the field for the Falcons and Coach Basalyga, including four transfers and 10 new freshmen, all of which are looking to make an impact on the program from day one.
BGSU will have a total of five days of practice before hosting the Flames of the University of Illinois-Chicago in an exhibition contest on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium.
