13 Football Falcons Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio—The Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday morning the Academic All-MAC team for football, with a record 128 student-athletes earning recognition. 13 student-athletes from Bowling Green State University were honored. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA. Voting for the Distinguished Scholar Athlete Team will be completed at a later date by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives.
Zac Bartman (3.84, Mathematics), Joe Davidson (3.94, Finance), Logan Dietz (3.57, Finance), Ryan Hunter (3.65, Criminal Justice), Nate Locke (4.00, Psychology), Gabe Martin (3.33, Marketing), Monti Phillips (3.31, Digital Arts), Chrisitian Piazza (3.43, Sales & Services Marketing), Chris Pohlman (3.86, Engineering Technology), Clay Rolf (3.26, Middle Childhood Education), Paul Senn (3.35, Human Development & Family Studies), Ben Steward (3.68, Pre-Exercise Science) and Tyler Tate (3.97, Exercise Science) all earned recognition.
Bowling Green was one of just five teams in the Mid-American Conference with 13-or-more student-athletes recognized on this season's team. They were joined by Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, and Ohio. Redshirt junior Tyler Tate earned the third Academic All-MAC honor during his career, while senior Chris Pohlman earned the honor for the second straight season.
The Falcons finished the season at 8-6, winning the MAC East Division for the second consecutive season. BGSU made their second straight appearance in the MAC Championship Game and their third straight appearance in a bowl game. By defeating South Alabama in the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, the Orange and Brown won their first bowl game since the 2004 season.
