Falcon Softball to Hold Coaches Clinic on Dec. 13
November 03, 2015 | Softball
The Bowling Green State University softball program will be holding a coaches clinic. The clinic, which will be beneficial to softball coaches as well as parents of softball players, will be held on Sunday evening, Dec. 13, at Eastwood High School.
BGSU head coach Sarah Willis and her staff will run the clinic, which will begin at 6:00 p.m.. The clinic is designed to help coaches and parents teach the necessary fundamentals of hitting and pitching needed to compete at the next level. Time will also be taken to discuss the fundamentals of throwing and proper fielding mechanics.
The hitting portion of the clinic is a combination of mechanics, appropriate positioning, mental preparation, and conscious understanding of one's body. This session will cover explanation, demonstration, and participation in drills to aid in breaking down the hitter's swing.
The pitching portion of the clinic will emphasize the mechanics necessary for all types of pitchers to develop velocity, command, change of speed, and deception. Various drills will be shared to facilitate adjustments and enhance pitchers' body awareness.
Additionally, the Falcon coaching staff will be available for an open question and answer session that will allow a discussion on the ideas and philosophies taught at Bowling Green State University.
For more information or to register for the clinic, contact the BGSU Softball Office at (419) 372-7159 or williss@bgsu.edu.
