Parker Tabbed Madness Mid-American Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

College Sports Madness Men's Basketball Weekly Awards (11-30-15)

Bowling Green, Ohio – Senior forward Spencer Parker was named the Madness Mid-American Men's Basketball Player of the Week by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com) for his strong week of play in which he led the Falcons to a 2-0 overall record with wins at Florida Gulf Coast University and at home versus Urbana.

Over BGSU's two games last week, both of which were victories, the 6-7 forward led BGSU with an average of 18.5 points per game on 62.5 percent shooting from the field overall and 83.3 percent shooting from the free throw line.

In the 82-77 road win at FGCU, which was the Falcons' third game in three days, Parker registered 22 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He was 10-of-18, 55.6 percent, from the field overall and was 2-of-3, 66.7 percent, from the charity stripe in the road win. He also had one assist and a key block in 33 minutes of play.

Parker followed up that performance with 15 points and six rebounds in only 19 minutes of play in a 96-55 blowout win at home over Urbana. The Detroit native was 5-of-6, 83.3 percent, from the floor overall, including a one-handed tomahawk slam in the second half, and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the foul line in the victory. He also had one assist in the home win.

The senior has scored in double figures in each of the Falcons' last five games and has recorded two double-doubles thus far this season. He is averaging a career-best 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, and is shooting 50 percent overall from the field this year.

BGSU (4-2) has won three straight games and will return to action at home on Wednesday night, Dec. 2, as the Falcons will host University of Maryland-Baltimore County at 8 p.m. ET or approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's basketball game versus Evansville set for 6 p.m.
