Hall Of Famer Todd Black Named To Hardin County Hall

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University Athletics Hall of Famer Todd Black has been named to the 2015 class of the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame. Black, who was a 1988 Kenton High School graduate and 1993 BGSU graduate, was inducted into the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
At BGSU, Black first burst onto the scene at the 1990 MAC Championships, finishing second in the 800. In 1991, he led the team in points scored and was an NCAA provisional qualifier. After sitting out the 1991-92 season, Black made it to the semifinal round of the 1992 Olympic Trials in the 800 in New Orleans. He competed with the US Olympic Development team in Europe in the summer of 1992 and returned to collegiate competition to earn All-American status in 1993. He was an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship in the 800 and won the MAC title in the 1500.
In cross country, Black was All-MAC in both 1990 and 1991 and was the team's outstanding freshman in 1989. He was All-Ohio in 1990 and was named All-MAC, All-Ohio and All-Central Collegiate Team in 1991. In 1996, Black competed at the US Olympic Trials in Atlanta in the 800, advancing to the finals.
The Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at Upper Scioto Valley High School in McGuffey, Ohio on May 9 at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for school-aged kids. Deserts and refreshments will be served and every ticket holder receives a commemorative Hall of Fame program.
