Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University head men's basketball coach Michael Huger capped off his busy first month back at BGSU by throwing out the first pitch at the Toledo Mud Hens game on Monday night, May 18, at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio.
Huger was introduced as the 17th head men's basketball coach at BGSU on Friday, April 17, at the Stroh Center in an introductory press conference. (Video | Release)
He then immediately locked down BGSU signee Malik Hluchoweckyj, who had committed to the Falcons during the early signing period in November 2014, and then signed local product Demajeo Wiggins in late April.
Both Coach Huger and his staff then added another incoming player in junior college transfer Wesley Alcegaire to kick-off the month of May, all while putting together his first-ever staff in assistant coaches Louis Rowe, Anthony Stacey and Mike Summey. He then finalized his staff with the additions of Kevin Noon as the Director of Operations and Ryan Kardok as the Video Coordinator. (Coaching Staff Release | Support Staff Release)
Huger then hit the road for the first-ever Falcon Coaches Caravan, where he along with a number of other BGSU head coaches visited Cleveland/Akron, Columbus, Dayton and Indianapolis in a four day period from May 11-14.
To close out his first month on the job, Coach Huger headed out to the baseball diamond where he threw out the first pitch at the BGSU baseball regular season finale versus Buffalo on Saturday, May 16, prior to the Falcons' 13-2 home win. (Video of his first pitch)
The first pitch at Steller Field would prove to be just a precursor for the 1994 BGSU graduate, as Huger then ventured north up I-75 to Fifth Third Field to throw out the first pitch for the Mud Hens game on May 18, just a month out from touching back down at home in Bowling Green, Ohio.
