Narro, Pleger Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week
May 04, 2015 | General, Men's Golf, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's golfer Jose Narro and track and field athlete Brooke Pleger.

Male Athlete of the Week
Jose Narro, a sophomore from Tampico, Mexico, finished with rounds of 74, 73, 69 and 75 overall to place in a tie for 10th-place overall with a 72-hole score of 291, +3. Overall, Narro posted 12 birdies and a team-best 47 pars over the four rounds of play. The 10th-place finish was not only the top finish for the Falcons at the three-day event, but it was also his fourth top-20 finish of the season. Narro finished the year with a team-low stroke average of 73.22 and earned All-MAC First Team honors. He became the first BGSU men's golfer to earn All-MAC First Team honors since 2009.
Female Athlete of the Week
Brooke Pleger, a redshirt senior from Saline, Mich., broke her own Mid-American Conference and school records at the Jesse Owens Track Classic, hosted by Ohio State, winning the championship flight of the event with a nation's best toss of 228-feet (69.49m). Pleger also set new meet and stadium records in the process. Pleger's entire series was the best of her career. Along with having the 228-0 throw that leads the country, five of her six throws were at least 224-11 (68.55m), a mark that no other collegiate hammer thrower has reached this year. In fact, she moved into the top ten all-time among collegiate hammer throwers as well as climbing into sixth among American collegians.
