The Auckland, New Zealand native will represent her country across July 4-7.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Jordan Rae, who just completed her freshman year of eligibility with the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team, has been selected to compete at the World University Games in Gwangju City, South Korea for New Zealand. The event as a whole runs from July 3-14, with the artistic gymnastics portion taking place July 4-7.
"It is a great honor for Jordan to compete for her country at the World University Games," commented head coach Kerrie Turner. "From the start, Jordan had expressed an interest in qualifying for this event, and I am so proud of her efforts. She will represent New Zealand and our program very well."
The World University Games is an international sporting and cultural festival, staged every two years in a different city around the world. The International University Sports Federation (FISU) organizes the multi-sport event for university student-athletes.
This past season, Rae competed at all 12 of Bowling Green's competitions, seeing time on bars, beam and floor. The soon-to-be sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand scored a career-high 9.825 on beam versus Western Michigan to win the event. The following week, Rae notched a career-high 9.850 on floor in the school's first win over Kent State since 2002. Rae set her career high on bars earlier in the season against Ball State, when she registered another 9.825.
Rae hit the 9.800 plateau six times in 2015, while scoring at least a 9.700 a total of 17 times. Rae was the only freshman on last year's squad that earned a spot in Turner's lineup at every meet over the course of the season.
