Erica Hubert Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week
August 24, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Cleveland, Ohio -- Bowling Green State University women's soccer player Erica Hubert has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday afternoon (Aug. 24).
Â
Hubert, who is seeing action for the first time in her BGSU career due to an injury suffered last season, earns the first league weekly award of 2015. Through two games, she has a team-high five points and has helped the Falcons to a 2-0 start to the season.
Â
A native of Welland, Ontario, the redshirt freshman scored her first career goal this past Friday in the team's season opener against Chicago State. She also recorded her first career assist in the 4-0 victory. In Sunday's game versus IPFW, Hubert had a long run down the middle of the field and capitalized on her shot from the top of the box to score her second goal of the season.
Â
The seven goals scored at home in 2015 is already more than the five goals the team scored at home a year ago. BGSU is 2-0-0 for the first time since 2000 and it is the first time in school history the Falcons have shut out its first two opponents.
Â
The Falcons hit the road for the first time this season on Friday at 6 p.m. against Morehead State in Kentucky.
