Pitching/Catching Spots Still Open for Softball Labor Day Camp

All-skills portion of camp, to be held Sept. 7 at Meserve Field, is closed
Pitching/catching spots are still available for the Bowling Green State University softball program's Labor Day Camp at Meserve Field. The one-day camp, which will take place on Monday, Sept. 7, is open to aspiring softball players ages 8-18.

All slots for the all-skills portion of the camp have been filled, but campers can still sign up for the Pitching Series and Catching Series. Both the Pitching Series and Catching Series will be held from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Pitchers will be instructed on the proper fundamentals of the fastball, with emphasis placed on developing a pitcher's velocity, command, change of speed and pitch deception (movement). Various drills will be introduced to help enhance body awareness and skill development.
In the Catching Series, catchers will focus on the proper techniques of blocking, framing and throwing. Specific game-management strategies will be introduced, and the campers will develop a greater understanding of pitch-calling strategies.
The Labor Day Camp will be held at Meserve Field. In the event of inclement weather, the camp will take place at Perry Field House.
Cost of the camp is $60 for the Pitching Series or Catching Series. Please wear softball attire to the camp on Sept. 7. All campers are required to provide their own equipment (batting helmet, cleats, glove, etc.), and are encouraged to mark all equipment with their name. Pitchers are responsible for providing their own catcher.

Once you have signed up, you will be contacted by the BGSU Softball Office as Labor Day draws closer. Forms of payment include cash or check (made out to BGSU Softball), and campers are asked to bring their payment to Meserve Field on the day of the camp.
