Sunday Cougar Invitational Results

Polina Radeva went unbeaten in singles play at the Chicago State Invitational, winning the green flight at the season-opening tournament, and the Bowling Green State University tennis team made strong strides following a difficult 2014-15 campaign.

Radeva rebounded from a first set defeat to defeat Bradley's Alejandra DeLasa in the top flight championship match 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4. She reached the championship by beating Bradley's Alexa Brandt 6-1, 7-6 (1) and Emma Sondergren 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 earlier in the weekend.

Emily Witt who competed in the black flight championship on Sunday fell to Tamara Blum of Oakland 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman Paula Comella Aguilo and junior Antonina Farrar both competed in the consolation championship of their flights. Aguilo defeated Lewis' Nora Mindiyarova 6-3, 6-0 in the green flight. Farrar won her first collegiate match beating Conlin, also of Lewis, 6-4, 6-3 in the grey flight.

Doubles concluded with Comella and Drew Fillis winning the green flight northeast bracket 7-5 by taking down Sondergren and Manfredo of Bradley. After a rewarding weekend in the white flight doubles Radeva and Witt fell to Bradley's Detcher and Toidze in the championship 6-3.

The Falcons will be back in action Friday and Saturday for their lone home tournament of the fall for the BGSU Invitational at Keefe Courts. Schools participating in the invitational are Toledo, IUPUI, Illinois Chicago, Detroit, Evansville, Chicago State and Wright State.
