Women's Tennis Host BGSU Invitational This Weekend

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team will compete at the lone home meet for the fall portion of the schedule. The Falcons host the BGSU Invitational Friday and Saturday starting at 10 am each day.

Matches will be held at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus as well as Bowling Green High School. In case of inclement weather the invite will be moved indoors to the Perrysburg Tennis Center.

Eight teams will battle it out at the invitational. Along with BGSU, schools participating are Toledo, IUPUI, Illinois Chicago, Detroit, Evansville, Chicago State and Wright State.

"We're looking forward to hosting this weekend," said head coach Olga Elkin. "We have a great group of schools playing and a very high level of competition. We play most of these schools in the spring, so it will be great to use these matches going into the spring season."

The tournament will consist of two rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles on Friday. On Saturday, the final round of singles and doubles will be held.

Last weekend, the Falcons opened the 2015-16 season at the Chicago State Cougar Invitational. BG was competitive throughout the weekend as Polina Radeva won the top flight championship and Paula Comella Aguilo and Drew Fillis won the doubles northeast green flight.

"The team competed very well last weekend, which is great to see." Elkin said. "This team may be young but they are very talented. We had a great start last weekend and I am excited to continue building on that this weekend."
