REGIONAL RANKINGS
In the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason regional rankings, released Monday, the BGSU women's cross country team was ranked No. 12 in the Great Lakes Region – the highest in Lou Snelling's tenure at BGSU. The Falcons were fourth among all MAC schools.
MAC RANKINGS
In the MAC preseason poll, released Tuesday, the BGSU women's cross country team was ranked fourth. The Falcons return seven of the team's top eight finishers from last season. The men were selected ninth by the coaches.
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?
"Being our first meet of the year, the Mel Brodt will give us an opportunity to see what our current fitness looks like. This will be the first time since May we have raced, so executing the basics in our pre/post-race routines and racing will be the major focus. With Toledo competing, they will provide a good early season measuring stick for us. On the women's side they are returning MAC Champs and are picked to repeat this year."
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The women's cross country team is a solid group of seasoned athletes with promising younger runners. In 2014, the team placed fourth at the MAC Championships and returns seven of the team's top eight finishers from that meet. Four seniors, one junior, five sophomores and two redshirt freshmen provide experience for the Falcons and two true freshmen will provide depth to the team. Seniors Becca Rae, Jasmine Redman and Andrea Alt all finished in the top 30 of the MAC last year.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
On the men's side, the Falcons are a growing team but are looking to make improvements this year. They are fit and ready to take care of business on the courses in 2015. There are five returners for the Orange and Brown -- one junior and four sophomores. Eight competitive freshmen join the mix this year and have made great contributions in preseason workouts. The team has been built on a solid foundation for the future.
